You can display dynamic (personalized) content based on customer information by using conditional text. Conditional text is used in situations where the content is dynamic but the use of zones is not possible or unnecessarily complex. Examples are greetings and e-mail subjects.

Conditional text consists of:

  • One or more variations of the text to be displayed.
  • Conditions that determine what text is displayed.
  • A default text that is displayed if none of the conditions apply.

Conditional text can be inserted in the following situations:

  • In the e-mail settings (subject, from name, from address, reply to name, reply to address).
  • In the template settings (subject, from name, from address, reply to name, reply to address).
  • In the template source code.
  • In object layouts.
  • In properties of type text and HTML in object variations.

Using layouts to re-use conditions

It can be quite time-consuming to configure conditional texts and it can therefore be useful to re-use complete conditional text configurations, known as conditional text layouts. The conditional text dialogue window provides functions in the menu bar for saving and loading layouts.

A name can be specified in the menu bar that is used to identify the conditional text layout. Use the ‘Save’ function next to it to save the layout. The layout name must be unique. If a layout with the specified name already exists, it will be replaced. Saving a layout has no effect on conditional texts for which this layout was previously loaded.
